Indian Railways is undergoing a paradigm shift as evident from an USD 142 Billion investment plan over 2015-19 and doubling this investment figure in the next five year cycle and thus creating huge opportunities for the stakeholders. Systemic changes are in progress like funding from LIC/states, focus on capacity enhancement, accounting overhaul, regulatory reforms, along with likely improvement in profitability post start of the Dedicated Freight Corridor.
On the freight movement front, Rail is a significantly cheaper mode of transport than roads, yet the share of roads in Indian freight movement is much higher than that of the railways. The main reason behind this situation is congestion on the rail network and poor policies.
In view of the above, CII in association with RDSO is organizing International Seminar on “Modern Technologies & Innovations in Railways” during InnoRail 2018 to deliberate upon the ways and means for upgrading the railways infrastructure viz. bullet trains & high speed trains, smart rolling stock, railway tracks, signaling system, supply chain management system, etc.
