CII-Western Region announces a Two Day Workshop on Academic Leadership – Changing Paradigms on the 22-23 January 2018 to create a space and platform for visioning and mobilizing action, based on the changing paradigms.
Plato has opined “the direction in which education sets a man will determine his future life.” The responsibility of Academia is no more imparting education to make people literate or merely employable. Maintaining the social equilibrium, creating constructive jobs and work for oneself and others, sustainable development of the planet are all responsibilities on the next generation that ultimately rests on educators. To add to this it is a known fact that India’s demographic scenario of the largest youth population can be a danger or an advantage. To reap this demographic dividend, society has to play its role wherein the academic leadership can champion this cause.
The current leaders in Academia have a responsibility to evolve the 'future space' of Academic institutions involving the creation and nurturing of appropriate eco-system of stakeholders, straddling the chasm of 'the future class room', all the way, towards reaping the demographic dividend of India's young population.
The role of academic leadership becomes critical as they not only need to grapple with the challenges of technological disruption, paucity of talent & resources but also need to meet the set of expectations from diverse set of Stakeholders.
The leadership in Academia would have to be deepened and widened, made more inclusive, and capable of generating ' vision communities'.
