Urban and industrial India will have huge implications on the use of water and discharge of waste. With time, the quantity and characteristic of wastewater discharge has drastically changed. In their current state, most wastewater treatment plants are obsolete and are in need of newer technology and capacity expansion. So, there is an urgent need for treating wastewater using modern technology and recover as much usable water as possible.
A report by the government had pointed out that water resource management is going to be the most serious problem of the 21st century. According to researchers, industrial and municipal segments account for almost 90 percent of $2000-2100 million water treatment market in India.
