CII (SR) organizing its 2nd Edition - Conference on Aerospace & Defence Manufacturing Technologies on 23rd June 2017 at Hotel ITC Grand Chola, Chennai with the theme of “Make in India – Fast Developing Ecosystem for Aerospace and Defence Industry” and this conference is chaired by Mr Jayakar Krishnamurthy, Chairman & Managing Director, UCAL Fuel Systems Ltd. Government of India’s prestigious “Make in India” program concept is now the cornerstone of the acquisition plans in aerospace & defence production policy. Hence it is necessary to understand what needs to be done to best leverage our potential to harness the huge opportunities in the aerospace & defence sector. This conference aims to help stakeholders understand how to effectively synergise our strengths and capabilities for a prospective growth in manufacturing segment to achieve indigenization in the aerospace & defence sector.
This conference aims to serve as a knowledge platform to discuss on the opportunities and challenges in the Aerospace & defence sectors and to further serve as an interaction platform for key stakeholders in the defence and allied sectors; Identify areas to build capacity to harness the opportunities in the defence sector; Understand from key officials the expectations of aerospace industry; Gather thoughts on how to effectively utilize the MSME segment for the aerospace & defence industry and propose models in similar lines; Understand how sectors like automotive, electronics, ICT, technologies, Design software etc. can enhance their contribution to aerospace& defence segment; Emphasize the nations’ Strength in areas like design, program management etc; Aid government agencies in facilitating effective policy and provisions for development; Facilitate knowledge flow by working with organizations from different backgrounds on the common agenda.
The conference proposes to cover the following areas in the technical discussions:
Plenary Session I: Potential growth of Aerospace and Defence R&D
Focus Areas: Industrial Complex - concept to reality | Employable and Skilled Workforce for Aerospace & Defence sector | Accelerating Start-ups in Aerospace & Defence Industry | Research and Development – The game changer / GAGAN / Remote Sensing
Plenary Session II: Additive Manufacturing – Holistic Approach for A&D Industry

Panel Discussion: “Does Transfer of Technology through PPP models strengthen Make-in-India initiative?”
Innovation is the prime source of technological advancement...which in turn drives economic growth. Complete transfer of authority to the private sector may not be the solution to revamp the existing extension scenario, but a blend of public and private sector may, to some extent, provide success.
Plenary Session III: New Materials, future design, advance technology & intellectual rights
Focus Areas: Geospatial | Craft to Craft Communication | Security of Intellectual Property for Designs | Geospatial | Integrated defence & security solutions | UAV | UGV | Strategic and futuristic technology | 3D Design | Flying Autonomous Robots | Bio fuel & hybrid-electric Engines
Plenary Session IV: Buy and Make (Indian) – Opportunity and Challenges for OEM & MSME’s
Focus Areas: Challenges in manufacturing spare parts | High quality design and manufacturing | OFB & DRDO partnership with MSME’s (B2B) | Transfer of Technology | Limitations for MSME’s | OEM’s – Quality | Buy (Indian - IDDM) |MRO
Prominent global speakers from leading Aerospace & Defence Organizations & Labs across India, OEMs, Component & System Manufacturers, Service Providers, System Integrators, State and Central Government officials, MSMEs, Researchers, Corporate Consultants etc have been invited to participate and share their knowledge at this conference.
