CII continuously advocates the need for increased attention to quality and productivity by industry both at the Regional level and at the National level. CII has been spreading awareness on the need for Total Quality Management and Quality Circles are vital TQM tools.
Quality Circles play a very important role in involving a wide cross section of employees in any organisation for improving Quality within an organisation through participation.
The focus is on breakthrough improvement in productivity at the shopfloor level.
Chief Executives would benefit from this opportunity by getting an insight into some outstanding examples of Quality Circles and also the various aspects and role of Quality Circle activities
Senior Managers would understand how to promote and encourage Quality Circle movement within their organisation. They would have an opportunity to explore ideas and views with the facilitators and trainers of the participating circles as well as other delegates.
Workmen at the shop-floor level would benefit from the exposure to the concept of Quality Circle activity as practiced in other units. This would provide a unique opportunity to motivate workers to exchange ideas and views and share experiences on Quality Circles and various approaches to problem solving.
Over the years, these circles have helped to improve quality, efficiency and yield, reduce cycle and turnaround time, lower costs, and increase employee motivation. Together, these benefits contribute to better financial results for their organisations.
The top three teams from each of the Preliminary Contests compete at the Regional Final, which is held in the month of December at New Delhi. And Quality Circle Teams, who are assessed as the “BEST” Quality Circles, at the Regional Level Conventions, make presentations / compete at the National Final, to be held every year in one of the regions by rotation.
This convention provides a unique opportunity to motivate workers to form Quality Circles within the company and will also provide them with an opportunity to exchange ideas, views and share experiences on various approaches to problem solving through Quality Circles.
