Session on EODB on Customs Procedures Post GST, Puducherry, 22 December 2017

Confederation of Indian Industry(CII), Puducherry organized a Session on “EODB on Customs Procedures Post GST” for Industry members on 22nd December 2017 at Hotel Atithi, Puducherry. The session was well attended by major exporters from Puducherry covering all segments of industry right from manufacturing, engineering, service etc.

Mr Shirkanth R D, Chairman, CII Puducherry in his welcome address thanked the State & Central GST and Customs Commissioners for their active involvement with CII and interacting with our members on regular basis.

Mr Ashok, I.R.S., Commissioner, Customs, Commissionerate, Trichy presided over the session and delivered his keynote address. He said that under the post-GST regime, works of Central Excise and Customs have been separated. From January 1, 2018, Chief Commissionerate Customs (Preventive), Trichy, would become functional and all customs-related functions across Tamil Nadu, except for Chennai region, would be under it.

Mr K Ramesh, I.R.S., Assistant Commissioner of Customs, Cuddalore Division made a presentation on export procedure under GST Regime and explained about the Refund of IGST paid on exported goods through Customs System. He also added that the mechanism for refund of IGST paid on exports is fully based on system validation between GSTN Portal and Customs Systems, without intervention of officers and mentioned that the exporters/liner to file the GST Returns and Gateway EGMs without any error. All applications of LUT and bonds should be accepted within three working days. Exports can be made without payment of IGST, i.e., through letter of understanding (LUT) or bond.

Further, he mentioned that an amount of Rs.34 lakhs was disbursed as IGST Refund in respect of exports during July 2017 for exports through Customs Division, Cuddalore.

The session also had presentation on E-sealing of Export Containers & RFID tracking for shipping containers.

Mr M Nandakumar, Vice Chairman, CII Puducherry concluded the session by thanking the Commissioner, Speakers & Participants for their presence at the event.
