With the objective of building greater awareness and consensus on various issues critical for the country’s growth, CII has launched a new monthly publication called Policy Watch. It is widely circulated to all stakeholders, particularly to membership and government to communicate Industry’s views and recommendations across different sectors.
This issue of Policy Watch takes an in-depth look at the MSME sector and has outlined some specific recommendations to encourage entrepreneurs and propel the MSME sector on a high growth trajectory.
The Indian MSME sector has shown promising signs over the last few years. It however continues to be plagued by some issues, especially lack of affordable finance; lack of appropriate & affordable technology; availability of skilled manpower; infrastructure; marketing and labour & environmental issues.
With more than 62% of members from the MSME segment, CII accords a very high priority to the development of MSMEs, the dynamic segment of Indian Economy. In line with the CII National theme – “Reviving Economic Growth – Reforms and Governance”, the CII National Committee on MSME is working to achieve incremental and Innovative improvements for the growth & development of the MSMEs in India.
As part of this initiative, CII has been able to bring to the fore, the key issues before the Task Force on MSMEs under the PMO, Ministry of Finance and the Working Group on MSMEs Growth for Twelfth Five Year Plan (2012 -17), constituted under the Ministry of MSME.
