Aug 04, 2018

“Apart from the regular business activities, Industry should come forward and contribute towards skill development mission and initiatives of the State as well as Central Government,” said Mr Bikram Singh, Hon’ble Minister for Industries, Labour & Employment, Government of Himachal Pradesh, while addressing the participants at the third edition of MSME Conclave organised at Baddi.

Agreeing to the industry whines, Mr Bikram Singh assured industry of all possible help and support. “Your agenda is the agenda of the State Government. We are there to facilitate and provide an enabling environment for the industry, especially MSMEs to grow and flourish in the State,” added Mr Singh.

Speaking at the occasion, Mr Rajesh Sharma, Director – Industries, Government of Himachal Pradesh shared various path-breaking initiatives of the State Government to support industry, including reduction in electricity duty for MSMEs. “An interest subsidy of 5% being provided by the State Government under Mukhyamantri Swavlamban Yojana is another initiative to encourage self-employment and entrepreneurship,” he said. “The Government of Himachal Pradesh has also entered into an agreement with Quality Council of India wherein workshops and training programmes will be organised across the industrial areas in the State to promote ‘Zero Effect Zero Defect’,” added Mr Sharma.

Mr IMJS Sidhu, Chairman, CII Himachal Pradesh State Council, said, “More than 70 percent of the industry belongs to the MSME sector and is playing a very critical role in the growth story of the state, be it employment to local youth or revenue to the State, MSMEs have been playing a pivotal role.”

Mr Harish Agarwal, Vice Chairman, CII HP State Council, said, “Despite the sector being strategically important for overall industrialization strategy and employment generation, as well as the opportunities that the Indian landscape presents, the MSME sector confronts several challenges such as technological obsolescence, access to credit, hence, is a need to establish potential strategy in order to improve linkages and coordination between the Government, Industry and Academia and there is also a need to develop alternate delivery channels through capacity building of the MSME bodies and the public private partnerships in the institutional structure as also the schemes.”
