300 candidates have been offered Jobs at the CII s two day Job and career fair organized at Punjab Technical University Campus, Jalandhar – Kapurthala Road,Punjab said Mr Gunbir Singh, Chairman, CII Punjab State Council . Considering the limited opportunities and exposure to the local youth in the past, the fair as been quite a success story, added Mr Gunbir .

Organised with intent to create a platform for the industry to meet and recruit quality manpower and at the same time provide employment avenues to the youth, CII''s two day Job & Career Fair was visited by over 4200 candidates from all parts of Punjab.  32 companies have participated in the fair with vacancies in multiple categories ranging from sales, engineering, marketing, insurance, etc. The participating companies included industry giants like Vardhman, IDS, Eastman industries, HDFC Standard Life, HCL, GNA etc

Takling a wider canvas, Mr  Singh ,stated that enhancing  awareness and employability of youth in Punjab as well as to  provide a connect between the requirements of Industry and the available manpower being a key mandate, CII organised  this Job Fair  in this area of Punjab so that youth of this area get oriented to the requirements of the industry" .

The success of the Fair reinforced the confidence that local youth in this area of Punjab can match the requirements of the corporate giants. This would have a cascading effect with others aspiring for similar success in the corporate world added Ms Charu Mathur, Regional Director, CII, NR. Going by the response of the Job fair, CII would like to   replicate this initiative in other districts of Punjab as well, she reinstated.

The feedback from the participating companies has been very encouraging.  Sharing this sentiment, Mr Vishal Atari, Regional HR, HDFC Standard Life expressed satisfaction on the quality of manpower they short listed for their company. “We have recruited 41 candidates in total”, he informed.

Another recruiter, Mr Sunil Bhatt, Territory Head, HCL expressed happiness at the quality of manpower at the Fair and had shortlisted 90 candidates for the 50 vacancies available in the company.
