CII’s India-‘The Big Picture’ Workshop to deliberate on Shooting Locales and Film Markets

Coinciding with the 41st International Film Festival of India (IFFI), The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) is organizing a one day ‘India-The Big Picture’ Workshop on 24 November 2010 at Vivanta by Taj, Goa. The workshops will give an insight into the varied shooting destinations and specialized services that India has to offer. The value-based and industry-specific workshops will also deliberate on entry into the global film festivals and markets.

India with its multi-cultural, multi-religious and multi-lingual heritage is naturally blessed at managing the complexities of a global world. Creative genius and technological expertise make India a unique destination for the creative sector. India offers shooting locales from the magnificent Himalayas in the north to the beautiful and serene backwaters of Kerela, the world class heritage sites like Hampi in Karnataka and legendary forts of Rajasthan.

The first Workshop - ‘Experience India : Shooting locales and Service specialists’ will focus on creating awareness on the benefits of shooting in India with views of experts, decision makers and line producers. Discussions will highlight rare shooting spots, production facilities and services. A high profile delegation from various State Tourism boards and Services Export Promotion Council will showcase the unique shooting locales and their respective states apart from other industry panelists who will talk about India’s emergence as a hub for filmed entertainment services. Key policy-makers from Ministry of Information and Broadcasting are also expected to address the Workshop.

The second Workshop, ‘Getting your movie to Global Film Festivals & Markets’ will be addressed by a panel of eminent members which include Mr L Suresh, President, Film Federation of India, Ms Meenakshi Shedde, India Consultant, Berlinale & Dubai International Film Festival & Curator, Worldwide Film Festivals, Mr Srinivasan Narayanan, Director, Mumbai Film Festival, Ms Uma DaCunha, Film Critic and curator, Global Film Festivals amongst others. The objective of this work shop is to help film makers get a first hand view on getting movies to the film festivals around the globe and participating in festivals. The discussions would centre around the dos and dont’s of visibility of films at the global film festivals, in the television markets and understanding the changing trends.

The Workshops will be attended by film producers, exhibitors, distributors, post-production companies and industry leaders.

Confederation of Indian Industry has been instrumental in promoting the growth and development of the Indian Film Industry and increase its visibility in the domestic and global market place. Over the years, ‘India-The Big Picture’ Conference - a confluence of creativity and commerce, has been able to position India's might in the entertainment and media services business.
