Stress on use of low cost techniques for construction of quality concrete roads and enhancement of skills to construct the roads - CII Technical Seminar on Urban and Rural Concrete Roads

 

CII Madhya Pradesh organized a “Technical Seminar on Urban and Rural Concrete Roads” on 1 December 2010 at Bhopal.

 

The seminar was widely supported by Department of Panchayat & Rural Development, Govt. of Madhya Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh Rural Road Development Authority, M P State Employment Guarantee Council and Madhya Pradesh Road Development Corporation LtdThrough this seminar CII tried to bring in best knowledge available in country in the field of construction of roads in rural and urban limits. Also equipment manufacturers were involved in this seminar to support this initiative in a way by sharing technology and imparting training.  

 

During the Inaugural session Mr Gopal Bhargava, Hon’ble Minister for Panchayat and Rural Development, Government of Madhya Pradesh said that the development of rural infrastructure is the top priority of the government. Further he said that the state government has accepted a big challenge of construction cement concrete roads in 52000 villages. Mr Bhargava requested CII to initiate a few pilot projects in select rural habitats with the help of member companies such as ACC and Reliance Cementation with the support of state government.

 

While addressing the gathering Mr R Parshuram, Addl. Chief Secretary & Development Commissioner, Panchayat & Rural Development, Govt. of Madhya Pradesh said that the government has taken an important initiative in building cement roads in villages & with active participation of the private sector the target of this important work will be achieved. Further he said, to build the long lasting roads, we need a set of qualified skilled engineers and manpower and requested CII to take this initiative forward & start skill development programme in the state. Mr Sanjay Dubey, CEO, MP Rural Road Development Authority and Mr Sheo Shekhar Shukla, CEO, MP State Employment Guarantee Council were also present at the Inaugural Session.

 

Mr Sumit Banerjee, Chairman, CII Cement Industry Division, Mr Uttam Ganguly, Chairman, CII Madhya Pradesh State Council, Dr C V Kand, Retd. Chief Engineer, MP PWD, Mr Rajiv Prasad, Chief Executive – North, ACC Ltd and Sandeep Naolekar, Vice Chairman, CII Madhya Pradesh State Council also addressed the gathering during the inaugural session.

 

During technical session topics, like opportunities & challenges in the construction of concrete roads, best case studies rural and urban roads, equipments support in the construction of concrete roads etc would be covered.
