8th CII Puducherry State Level QC Circle Competition for Operators

04 November 2011 : Puducherry CII Puducherry organised the 8th State Level Quality Circle Competition for Operators, Puducherry among its Member and Non-Member Companies today at Hotel Anandha Inn, Puducherry. Mr K S Shetty, Vice-Chairman, CII Puducherry & Vice President, Hindustan National Glass & Industries Ltd, welcomed the Judges and the Team Members to the Competition.

In his Welcome Address, he stressed that Quality Circle is one of the employee participation methods and iIt implies the development of skills, capabilities, confidence and creativity of the people through cumulative process of education, training, work experience and participation. He congratulated all the Quality Circles for their participation in the Competition.

He further said that the Competition was a part of CII’s continuous thrust towards strengthening the Quality movement in India. This provided a unique opportunity to motivate workers to form quality circles within the company and also provided them a forum to exchange their ideas and share their experiences.

Dr. D. Sampangi Raman, Head, Indian Statistical Institute, Chennai, Dr. A. Sanjeeva Rao, Executive Director, Sanjeev Quality Consultants, Chennai and Mr K Soundararajan, Director, Zen Academy, Chennai were the Jury Members. The assessment was based on the following factors: • Problem Identification, Definition, Selection & Tools used. • Analysis – Root cause, Effect, Data. • Action, Development of solution, Implementation (Trial & Regular). • Results / Benefits on QC, throughout time and society. • Follow up / Review & Prevention of recurrence. • Standardisation • Quality of presentation, visual, communication, clarity and time management. • Special features like Question and Answer, Team Involvement During the Valedictory address, Mr M M Patel, Past Chairman, CII - Puducherry State Council & Managing Director, Divma Engg. Company Pvt. Ltd, Puducherry said that Formation of quality circle is becoming imperative in today’s world where the customer’s expectations keep changing and it is become tougher day by day to get to the level of delighting the customer.

This concept enables the grass-root level employees to play a meaningful and significant role in their organization. Twelve Quality Circles from 9 CII Member and Non-Member companies in Puducherry participated in the Competition and following were the WINNERS: “Phoenix ” Circle of M/s Lucas TVS Ltd won the First place. “Vetri QCC team ” Circle of M/s Rane – Madras Ltd won the Second place. “SGIA 4W Zone” Circle of M/s Ucal Fuel Systems Ltd won the Third place. The Winners would participate in the CII Southern Regional Level Quality Circle Competition which would be organized during December 2011.
