World Environment Day 2012 Celebration
Jun 06, 2012

Young Indians, Bhubaneswar Chapter in association with RadhaKrishna Institute of Engineering and Technology (RITE) celebrated World Environment Day 2012 today the 05th of June 2012.

The first thing that comes to our mind when we talk about World Environment Day is about doing tree plantation, but Yi Bhubaneswar Chapter decided to tweak the idea a bit to make it more student friendly. Going by what Guru Rabindranath Tagore believed about education that a “child could learn more spontaneously from the nature than from text books”

Just as in his school a child used to live life completely and grow up as a free spirit. Without any burden and unhealthy competition, the child grew up tall, straight, and independent much like the trees.

Yi-Bhubaneswar adopted an area in the college and termed it as Yi Corner so that this would be used by the students to sit and talk about new/innovative ideas and even do small programs. This is somewhat like bringing back the lost glory of Green Adda (ADDA's with meaningful outcomes). The entire event was sponsored by RITE College.

Around 60 students came to support this noble cause and were actively involved in the sapling plantation.
