Voluntary Blood Donation Camp on the Eve of World Blood Donors Day 14 June 2012, Akums Drugs & Pharamaceutical Limited, Haridwar

A voluntary blood donation camp was organized on the occasion of World Blood Donor Day by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Akums Drugs & Pharmaceuticals Ltd., Haridwar in association with Himalayan Institute Hospital Trust (Jollygrant) and Indian Blood Cross Society, Haridwar at Integrated Industrial Estate (IIE), SIDCUL, Haridwar today.

The purpose of the blood donation camp was to help save lives of many people who need blood transfusion and to support patients being treated for a range of serious ailments including cancer, sickle cell anemia, severe burns, traumatic injuries and for those undergoing surgery.

The camp was inaugurated by Mr Sachin Kurve Sharadchandra, District Magistrate, Haridwar.

Mr Sandeep Jain, Vice Chairman, CII Uttarakhand State Council & Director, Akums Drugs & Pharmaceuticals Ltd said that corporate should ensure that they give something back to the community in which they exist. He shared that the camp has received an enthusiastic response from industrial work force. He further added that donating blood helps improve the health of the donor & at the same time also gives a sense of satisfaction that comes from helping save someone’s life.

In addition to Akums Drugs many other industries from SIDCUL Haridwar participated in the camp including Shivam Autotech, SKF India, Rockman Industries, & Napino Auto & Electronics Ltd.

The camp was a huge success wherein 550 units of blood were donated.
