CII Jamshedpur Council has been making concerted efforts in the direction of bringing growth and development in the State by educating CII members and society.CII on regular basis conduct sessions, seminars and workshops on different aspect of Industries varying from CSR to Production. In the context to make aware industries, on new technologies in High performance Coating & corrosion management, CII Jamshedpur Zonal Council has organized a seminar on “Environment Friendly Coating & Corrosion Prevention” at Bedih Club on June 22, 2012.

The Welcome Address delivered by Mr. Tarun Daga, Chairman CII Zonal Council & MD Tata Tinplate followed by the Theme Address by Mr. Prakash Sarode, Member CII Jharkhand State Council & MD Tata Pigment. Dr. S. Srikanth, Director CSIR- National Meteorological Laboratory, chief guest for the Session enlightened the Speakers on the true meaning of the Corrosion and the need of the Environment Friendly coating in today’s Industries. Dr. Srikanth spoke about the corrosion prevention method, which goes long back to 2500BC at the time Indus Valley Civilization; according to the data available with him, India loses 1Lakh Crore every Year due to corrosion and 80% of plant shutdown in India is due to reason of corrosion. Apart from this, he also briefed the audience on the work, which NML has done in preventing these type losses. Mr. Pankaj Malhan, Member CII Jamshedpur Zonal Council & Chef (operations) Tata BlueScope Steel Ltd., delivered the vote of thanks.

Aligning with its theme of “Environment Friendly Coating & Corrosion Prevention” for the day the session was divided into two technical sessions, prelaunch session and the post lunch session. The pre Lunch session was chaired by Mr. K.Mohan Kumar (GM Materials & ADD) the topic being “Environment Friendly Coating.” In this Session Mr. Hardev Singh, President Nippon Paint spoke on “Complex Problems – Simple Solutions for Precoated Steel”.
