INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS (IPR)

India is a signatory of TRIPs in the Uruguay Round agreement of 1995.It is now bound to amend her existing laws in order to make it TRIPs-compliant. This Agreement, inter-alia, contains an Agreement on Trade Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS) which came into force from 1 January 1995. It lays down minimum standards for protection and enforcement of intellectual property rights in member countries, which are required to promote effective and adequate protection of intellectual property rights.

CII realizing the importance of IPR as the key differentiator for industrial competitiveness institutionalized a dedicated department manned by domain experts & professionals more than a decade back.

Under this back drop CII Jamshedpur in association with MSME- DI, Ranchi organised awareness programme on “Intellectual Property Rights”. The programme was to educate MSME about the trademarks, logos, patents and how to get these registered. Government initiatives was also discussed in the session.  The session was well attended by the participants.
