Reiterating to its commitment of nurturing ethical business prospects amongst the industry fraternity, Confederation of Indian Industry, Himachal Pradesh State Council organized 2nd edition of conference on “Corporate Social Responsibility” with the theme “Ensuring Equity between Business and Society” in Baddi.

Speaking during the Inaugural Session, Mr Kishan Kapoor Minister for Industry, Government of Himachal Pradesh, appealed to the industry captains to adhere to ethical business practices and also to take along other stakeholders of the society which will ultimately lead to overall development as well as increased profitability both to the industry as well as the society.

“Industrialists need to consider the people living in their vicinity as a part of their own family which will on one hand help in improvement of the socio - economic conditions of the people around and on the other hand will also help the industry itself in numerous ways”, said Mr Kapoor. He further said Corporate Social Responsibility not only ensures that companies conduct their efforts with integrity, it encourage a responsible way to do business in the marketplace.

A Compendium on Corporate Social Responsibility, capturing the work done by various companies in the field of CSR, was also released during the Inaugural Session.

Mr Pratyush Panda, Head – CSR North, ACC Ltd  shared CII's regional perspective and various initiatives started by CII Northern Region for strengthening of CSR practices in the region.

Welcoming the participants to the 2nd edition of the conference in Himachal Pradesh, Mr C N Dhar, Chairman, CII Himachal Pradesh State Council shared that CSR should not be treated as an obligation, rather it should be considered as an essential business practice which as other essentials will help in increasing profitability tangibly or intangibly.

Various eminent speakers from leading corporate houses, PSUs and Civil Society of the region such as ACC, Ambuja Cement Foundation, HP State Industrial Development Corpn,  Vardhman Textiles, Godrej Consumer Products Ltd, Elin appliances , International Tractors Ltd, Colgate Palmolive India Ltd, Punjab National Bank, etc. shared their best practices with the participants.

The conference was well received by more than 70 participants from various industry segments of the region.
