CII Initiates Help Desk for investors to Balasore Plastic Cluster

Confederation of Indian Industry in partnership with IDCO and IPICOL organized a half day seminar “PlastMart” at Hotel Bhojan Traditional, Balasore with the objectives of Exploring Investment Opportunities, Improving Market Linkage and Promoting Balasore Plastic Cluster.

The welcome Address was delivered by Mr. S.P.Patnaik, Chairman CII – North Odisha Zonal Council & Managing Director, NINL. Mr. Patnaik focused on the potential of the small scale plastic industries in Balasore. He said IDCO and Team Orissa has initiated the Plastic Cluster for MSME units, where IDCO will look after the infrastructure and Team Orissa will act as the facilitator for investors. He also said that CII is working on the growth and development of the MSMEs in Odisha through cluster development, IP, technology and design intervention. Through consensus meetings, CII has also started exploring possibilities of undertaking new cluster interventions in the state. During the programme, it was announced that CII would create a help desk in Balasore to address the concerns and queries of the MSMEs in the state. Enhancing competitiveness of the MSMEs and the manufacturing sector through quality and innovation, developing clusters, creating awareness, enhancing knowledge and capacity building would be a prime focus area.

The Chief Guest for the seminar Mr.N.K.Sundaray, Principal Secretary, MSME, Government of Odisha gave a holistic Approach to the industry and suggested them to focus not just on its productivity and profitability but also to the environmental aspects. He said that the Balasore Plastic Cluster coming up in the outskirts of Balasore will also have to work on creating positive awareness on the advantages of using Plastics against the age old belief of Plastic being a non-degradebale substance. He also emphasized on the benefits of the Plastic Industry, namely; a) Plastic Industry has zero pollution; b) Plastic Industry can be started with the minimum amount of Investment; c) Plastic Industry has the minimum Power Consumption.

He also ensured full support to all Small Scale Industries from Government of Odisha. He welcomed all Plastic Industries from the eastern Region to be a part of the Balasore Plastic Cluster and make optimum use of the facilities being built in there.

The other dignitaries present on the dais for the inaugural session of “PlastMart” were Mr. Alok Ray, Director, MSME-DI, Mr. Ranjit Mohanty,OAS, District Collector, Balasore, Mr. Amit Behera, Past Chairman, CII-North Odisha Zonal Council , Mr. Devashish Mohanty, President, NOCC I and Dr. Saugat Mukherjee, Regional Director, CII-Eastern Region.

The Vote of Thanks was delivered by Mr. Ashish Agarwal, Vice Chairman, North Odisha Zonal Council & Director, Oripol Industries.

Ltd, Mr. S.Nayak, GM-DIC, Balasore, Dr. S.N.Yadav, Associate Professor & In Charge(HLC),CIPET and Mr. Ram Prasad, Officer-Credit, Bank of Baroda.
