Napino Auto & Electronnics Ltd, Haridwar lifted the Winner Trophy at the 25th Quality Circle Uttarakhand Preliminary Competition

Organisations can not grow without the contribution of manpower which is an important resource said Mr V Pandhi, Executive Director, BHEL Haridwar. He was chairing the Valedictory Session of the Uttarakhand Preliminaries of the 25th QC Circle Competition 2012 organized by Confederation of Indian Industry. Highlighting the contribution of Quality Circles in the success of BHEL, Mr Pandhi said BHEL has been a pioneer in this field and had initiated circles as early as 1982. He mentioned that efforts are made continuously by BHEL to take forward the quality movement and BHEL Haridwar today has 395 quality circles. Mr Pandhi also appreciated CII efforts in taking forward the Quality movement.

Mr V Pandhi gave away the trophies to the winning teams. Innovative team from Napino Auto & Electronics Ltd, Haridwar won the trophy for the first position. Horizon team from Bharat Electronics Ltd, Ghaziabad emerged as the 1st Runner-up followed by Nai Disha team from Secure Meters, Solan as the 2nd Runner-up. The first two teams will now participate in the Regional Final as a pre runner to the national competition.

Explaining the importance of Quality Circles Mr Sandeep Jain, Vice Chairman, CII Uttarakhand State Council said that QC Circle teams play a very important role in involving a wide cross section of employees in any organisation for improving Quality. They are a critical enabler for sustained growth and also to face the international competition. He further mentioned that quality should be seen in a holistic perspective, which implies development of skills, productivity, and quality of four aspects man, machine, method and product through cumulative process of training, work experience, brain storming sessions and active participation. Quality Circle has emerged as a mechanism to develop and utilize the tremendous potential of people for improvement in product quality and productivity.

18 Quality Circle teams from 13 organisations with strong commitments towards quality, like: BEL, BHEL, CavinKare, Honeywell, Marico Ltd, Mahindra & Mahindra, Rockman Industries, Napino Auto, Lifelong, Secure Meters, TVS Electronics,  Denso India & Anand Automotive - Spicer India participated in the competition and gave presentations on the specific projects handled by them at their work place. Mr B Kumar, GM Business Excellence BHEL and other senior officials of BHEL also participated in the competition.

The eminent panel of Judges comprised Mr Deepak Tikle, Plant Head, ABB Ltd, Haridwar, Mr Camillo Mascarenhas, Manager HR & EHS, SKF India Ltd., Haridwar and Mr Sudhir Chandra, Consultant, Akums Drugs & Pharmaceuticals Ltd.

The programme was attended by delegates from within and outside the State to get inputs for initiating Quality Circles in their organizations. Over 140 participants comprising workmen, quality and HR heads from Industry attended the competition.
