Launch of IGBC Lucknow Chapter & Seminar on Green Buildings

CII-Indian Green Building (IGBC) Lucknow Chapter launched

Today, Mr S K Garg, President, Awas Bandhu, Govt. of UP and Dr Prem C Jain, Chairman – IGBC launched the CII- IGBC Lucknow chapter, thereby ushering in a new chapter for further promoting sustainable- built environment in the State.

Mr S K Garg, President, Awas Bandhu, Govt of UP in his address highlighted about the importance of Green buildings in the society. He also appreciated the efforts taken by IGBC in promoting the concept of green all across the country and reaching out to the stakeholders. He has further committed to jointly promote the IGBC rating system for the Economic Weaker Sections (EWS) and affordable housing for all citizens under the Awas Bandhu initiative of Govt of UP.

Dr Prem C Jain, Chairman, IGBC highlighted that Green Buildings uses less water, optimises energy efficiency, conserves natural resources, generates less waste and provides healthier spaces for occupants, as compared to a conventional building.

Dr Jain informed that, as on date, over 2,800 Green Building projects amounting to over 

2.28 Billion sq.ft of Green Building footprint are going the Green way, making India the second country with largest green building footprint in the world.  During his address Dr Jain also shared his vision of making 50 Green schools in the country by Dec 2014 with support from Corporates and individuals.

Mr Sachin Agarwal, Chairman CII UP State Council highlighted that CII is working closely with the Government and other stakeholders in facilitating India emerge as one of the global leaders in green business.

Mr Sameer Gupta, Chairman – IGBC Lucknow Chapter & Vice Chairman, CII-UP State Council was confident that, IGBC Lucknow Chapter would go a long way in re-defining the way buildings are constructed and facilitate in exploring new growth opportunities.

Mr Satyendra Singh Tomar, Co –Chair, IGBC Lucknow Chapter informed that, Lucknow  would become the 16th local chapter. This chapter would work closely with all the stakeholders to reach out the Green Building concepts at the State and regional levels.

The session was well perceived by over 150 participants present for the Launch of IGBC Lucknow Chapter & Seminar on Green Buildings.
