Large and Small industry from across the country to meet over four days, explore business partnerships & transact business

Uttarakhand offers conducive industrial environment said Shri Harish Durgapal, Hon’ble Minister SSI, Uttarakhand during the Inaugural Session of the Industrial Expo 2014. The Expo, which has entered its 3rdedition this year is a B2B (Business to Business) Show with special focus on MSMEs and Buyer Seller Meets. The event is organized by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) jointly with the Department of MSME, Government of Uttarakhand. This is a four day event concluding on Sunday, 9 November 2014.

Congratulating CII for organising an MSME focussed pan India event in the industrial town of Haridwar, Hon’ble Minister said that MSMEs are the backbone of the State’s economy and the State Government would create landbank for MSMEs, wherein they can get land at competitive rates. Large industry and MSMEs are interdependent and hence an event like Industrial Expo organised by CII brings these two together.

Government of Uttarakhand is keen to promote further industrialisation in the state and at the same time is also committed to development of the hills said Hon’ble Minister. He sought industry’s help in creating entrepreneurship and self-employment opportunities in the state. Hon’ble Minister said that handloom and handicrafts will be promoted in a big way to generate self-employment to address the issue of unemployment.

Journey of industrialisation of Uttarakhand has been spectacular said Mr S C Nautiyal, Additional Director Industries, Government of Uttarakhand.  He emphasised on the need for industry connect with the people and Industrial Expo is an important step in this direction. He also stressed on the need for the industry to be globally competitive for it to be able to thrive.

Sharing the key highlights of the event Mr Manu Kochhar, Chairman CII Uttarakhand State Council said that the 3rd edition of Industrial Expo spread over more than 6000 square meters has attracted over 150 participants from Uttarakhand as well as 10 other States. He added that in order to help link MSMEs with the larger corporates, 7 Buyer Seller Meets would be organised including those by Railways, Leading PSUs – like BHEL, Auto majors like TATA Motors and Maruti Suzuki India and many more. Participating companies would be sharing their purchase requirements and processes at these meets, which will help MSMEs explore new business opportunities.

Proposing a formal Vote of Thanks, Mr Prashant Mahadik, Vice Chairman, CII Uttarakhand State Council said that the through events like Industrial Expo, CII aims to broad base the industrial development of the state, foster partnerships and promote sharing of best practices.

The session was also addressed by the Mr Alok Kumar Singh, Plant Head TATA Motors Panatnagar and Mr Mukesh Goyal, Plant Head, Hero MotoCorp, Haridwar who appreciated the catalytic role of Industrial Expo in promoting local enterprise as well as in showcasing world class industrial destination of Haridwar.

Various sectoral / industry associations partnering Industrial Expo 2014 are Asian Professional Security Association (APSA) New Delhi, Western UP Chamber of Commerce and Industry Meerut, SIDCUL Entrepreneur  Welfare Society (SEWS) Pantnagar, SIDCUL Entrepreneurs Welfare Association (SEWA) Haridwar, Uttarakhand Productivity Council (UPC) Dehradun, Hardwar Management Association (HMA), Himachal Chamber of Commerce & Industry Paonta Sahib & BBN Industries Association Baddi.

Earlier during the day, Shri Harish Durgapal, Hon’ble Minister SSI, Government of Uttarakhand inaugurated the Industrial Expo.
