Training Programme on Energy Efficient System
Jul 07, 2015

Industries going Green for Environment Sustainability and more Profits

“Using energy efficient systems in production can help companies in maximising their profits. Experienced Energy Auditors, Certified by Bureau of Energy Efficiency, Ministry of Power, Government of India, who conducted the training programme said that cutting down on costs is the easiest and the fastest way to multiply earnings. Also, with the on-going economic downturn, an enterprise can better position itself by reducing costs and maximizing margins.” said Mr R K Poddar, Past Chairman, CII Rajasthan State Council & Managing Director, Mayur Leather Products Ltd.

Mr Sanjay Namdeo, Senior Counselor said CII has been handholding counselling and helping industry to reduce their energy consumption by around 10-30 per cent for more than a decade. Pioneers in GreenCo Rating system, CII is also helping businesses go-green and engage them in the country's development process. This is in addition to positive financial implications of using energy efficient systems.

Advanced air piping systems, energy efficient pumping and lighting system were deliberated upon during the workshop. Best industrial practice demands that the wastage of compressed air should be minimized. The major losses in the compressed air system are due to the leaks, pressure drops in the lines and misuse of compressed air.

The objective of the programme is to help companies move forward towards the mission of having zero effect in terms of environmental footprint. With our Hon’ble PM, Narendra Modi's clarion call to work towards goals of 'Make in India' including that of Zero Defect, Zero Effect it becomes important that the Indian industries must work towards making Energy Efficiency more Efficient. Decisions taken by manufacturing plants to adopt technology in response to government sponsored energy audits is a key parameter and must be carefully analyzed.

Using fixed effects legit estimation, it is found that adoption rates are higher for projects with shorter paybacks, lower costs, greater annual savings and greater energy conservation. Plants are 40% more responsive to initial costs than annual savings, suggesting that new innovative automation technologies are what business units are keen on adopting. It was first found out at MIT that energy audits for improving commercial building efficiency had tremendous potential through increased automation.

Using energy efficient systems in production can help companies to maximise profits. Energy efficiency is an untapped energy resource; each unit saved is like a unit of energy generated which can be utilised for purposes of industrial growth and progress of our country said Mr Manpreet Singh, Counselor.

Mr Nitin Gupta, Director & Head, CII Rajasthan State Office said that if the industries would focus on green energy systems and work on environment sustainability only than the planet stay healthy & safe. In this backdrop a one day training programme on Energy Efficient System was conducted by CII here today.

During the day insight into the latest trends in the Energy Management were also shared by experts. The importance of the use of Energy Efficient motors in the industry was also underscored. A lot of industries at present are using old inefficient and ‘rewinded’ motors which cause more power consumption. This can be minimized by using energy efficient motors. During the presentation the latest IE standards, testing methods, construction features and case studies were discussed.
