Sep 17, 2016

During a very fruitful and interactive meeting with Dr Nirmal Singh, Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister, Government of J&K, CII members delegation led by Mr Rahul Sahai, Vice Chairman, CII J&K State Council submitted the proposed draft for the Startup Scheme for J&K.

“We are keen that Government of J&K announces a startup scheme for the youth of our state. They come up with brilliant business ideas and seek support from industry, academia and government to give their dreams a formidable and sustainable shape. Our youth deserves an ecosystem that boosts their innovative ideas. CII proposes an incubation infrastructure for startups and will provide industry mentorship and funding resources to them. We can grow and nurture our future investors from our own state. We are happy that Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister and Hon’ble Industry Minister have shown interest in this direction and assured us their support. We have requested Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister to form a core group for startups and build an infrastructure for incubation centre in IIT Jammu” Said Mr Rahul Sahai.

Dr Singh assured the CII members his personal keenness towards startups and promised them full support in this direction. CII also proposed forming a core team involving industrialists, academicians and government to work on building startup eco-system.

Mr Rahul Sahai, appreciated and congratulated Dr Nirmal Singh for assuring 24 x 7 electricity to all revenue earning feeders in the state and requested him for the further decrease in the power cuts He also thanked Dr Singh for reducing the electricity duty.

In another discussion, Dr Singh asked members to share their views on the overall sentiment of industry for GST regime. Mr Rahul Sahai & Mr Ravnish Gulati assured Dr Singh that industry is in full support to GST regime, however they would be strongly recommending that GST should not affect the state level incentives and hence all state level incentives should be incorporated under the GST regime.
