Shri Arun Jaitley, Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs to address The Partnership Summit 2017
Jan 25, 2017

Over 2000 delegates from 51 countries will converge in Vishakhapatnam from 27-28 January, 2017 for CII’s Partnership Summit. The Partnership Summit is the annual flagship event of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and is organized in association with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India and the Government of Andhra Pradesh.

The Partnership Summit 2017 is a unique platform that would enable close examination of the partnerships and synergies that will spark the next phase of global growth and develop strong multi-country linkages and networks to assist the transformation of the global economy.

The Summit started in the year 1995 to commemorate CII’s centenary year. With over two decades of active engagement and collaboration of India at a global level, the Summit attracts around 2000 delegates every year with over 40 per cent participation from overseas.

Shri Arun Jaitley, Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs, Shri Venkaiah Naidu, Minister of Urban Development, Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation and Information and Broadcasting, Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Commerce & Industry and Shri N Chandrababu Naidu, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh will be addressing the Inaugural Session of the Partnership Summit. Senior officials from both the Central and State Government as well as a galaxy of leading industrialists will also be participating at the session.

The Summit will be held in Vishakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. Andhra Pradesh - India’s Sunrise State - is a gateway to growing markets and promising opportunities. It is endowed with rich natural resources & mineral wealth and boasts of the second longest coastline in the country. With visionary political leadership, strong government mandate and proactive administration, the State has mapped its 2029 vision blueprint with a global outlook and a target to be amongst the best three states in India by 2022. Andhra Pradesh’s growth trajectory has been on the rise, with the State being the fastest growing State in India with 10.99% GSDP growth in 2015-16.

The theme for this year’s Summit is ‘Partnerships for Shared New Realities’. Over the years, a global economic rebalancing has taken place, with a definitive shift towards Asia and the Emerging Economies. Today the G20 nations together represent 85% of the global output. In an environment where the developed world clocked in growth at a low 2.5%, China and India continued to remain centres of economic growth.

Though a rhetoric against globalization was built up in 2016, the inter-dependence of advanced and emerging economies remained undeniable. In a global landscape with several transformative forces at work, new economic, technological, environmental and social challenges have begun to emerge. Since these challenges for sustained economic and trade growth are transnational, collective solutions and global collaborations are essential.

The Summit will provide a common platform to leaders from all walks of life to closely examine the synergies that spark the next phase of global growth and play a proactive role in building new bridges to the emerging world by fostering links globally.
