The Prime Minister emphasises growth with social inclusion on 77th Independence Day: Mr R Dinesh, CII President

On the special occasion of India’s 77th Independence Day today, the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has delivered an aspirational and pathbreaking speech which scripts a blueprint for 2047 through policies aimed at catalysing growth with social inclusion. ‘As a stakeholder in the country’s bright future, industry looks forward to working with the government on the implementation of all the action points mentioned by the Prime Minister’. This was stated by Mr R. Dinesh, President, CII during the address to the nation delivered by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.

During the first year of the Amrit Kaal, the decisive message in the Prime Minister’s eloquent delivery, centering on Nation First, is to include all citizens in the development process to help the country emerge as a global force to reckon with, when it turns 100 in 2047. The Prime Minister’s emphasis on Collective responsibility to promote suchita (probity), pardarshita (transparency), nishpakshta (objectivity) to make India developed is well taken.

The Prime Minister articulated India’s strength in the trinity of demography, democracy, and diversity to achieve the dream of a developed India. CII has always believed in the power of the youth which provides us with a distinct demographic advantage. Our young population of below 30 years, not only in metros but also in tier 2 and 3 cities, has played a pivotal role in helping India create the third largest start-up ecosystems in the world which has made the world sit up and notice India, stated Mr Dinesh.

The presidency of G-20 has, indeed, been a pivotal moment for India and offers a unique opportunity for the country to emerge as an economy of promise. According to the PM, India is now the voice of the Global South. With the secretariat of B-20 being in CII, the organization has been effectively partnering with the government to take the message of shared development to the members. CII has also been walking lock step with the government in the new global order post corona and would contribute towards India emerging as the third largest economy in the next five years, added Mr R. Dinesh.

According to Mr Dinesh, the emphasis on technology and digitization made by the Hon’ble Prime Minister, to bring in speed and transparency in processes, has also made the world look up to India as an emerging power. Our success in digital India, can become an exemplar for other countries, and the G-20 countries are keen to emulate India’s pioneering effort in harnessing India’s digital prowess. The Atal Tinkering labs to motivate STEM among children, advance of internet in the villages, work on nano urea, agro tech among others would contribute towards a modern India. The Prime Minister also underscored the importance of semi-urban and rural Bharat. The Government has rightly announced and implemented several initiatives for growth and development of tier 2 and tier 3 cities and the results are showing.

CII commends the Hon’ble Prime Minister for the relentless focus on multi-faceted reforms and for taking many initiatives, in partnership with major stakeholders, in diverse areas to create the right enablers to bolster competitiveness, promote inclusion and propel growth. The slogan of Reform, perform and transform, enunciated from the ramparts of the Red Fort, as well as efforts to contain inflation, reflects the active commitment and involvement of the Hon’ble Prime Minister in transforming India. This is reflected in the high growth rates achieved by India amidst slowing global economy. “Hon'ble Prime Minister has also talked about modernization and timely completion of infrastructure projects.  We welcome the intent of the government to address the issue of climate change through policies such as green hydrogen," added Mr Dinesh.

The accent on producing quality product through the make in India initiative is well taken and industry would do its utmost to make this a reality. CII supports the credo of ‘women led’ development and greater participation of women in the production process. The Prime Minister has outlined his development agenda in which the central idea is to deliver better services to the poor. “CII fully endorses his dream of providing housing for all and ensuring that modern amenities including electricity, broadband connectivity, sanitation and education reach every household,” said CII President, Mr R. Dinesh.
