Yi Goa Change Maker 2018
Young Indians(Yi) is an integral part of CII, formed in 2002 as a PAN India platform for young Indians to realize the dream of a developed nation. Through its programs and initiatives, it reaches out to millions of youth across the country with the clarion call to action of ‘We Can, We Will’. Yi holds more than 2500 activities each year under the pillars of Youth Leadership, Nation Building and Thought Leadership, and connects with 14000+ students through its institutional network, ‘Yuva’. Yi is one of the founders of the G20 Young Entrepreneur’s Alliance & Commonwealth Alliance of Young Entrepreneurs (CAYE – A). With sixteen years of glorious past and decades ahead that promise nothing short, Yi intends to become a larger movement of young people and promote the attitude of "We Can, We Will".
To enable us to recognise individuals committed to societal development, and effect real change in the society by working upon each other’s strength, Yi-Goa has decided to launch a ‘Yi Goa Change-Maker 2018’ campaign. It seeks to identify those who do good deeds towards the community around, more than just as a hobby or a weekend exercise. This will be driven largely through social media platforms such as Facebook and WhatsApp; with occasional support of print media and radio.
It is open to only those working in individual capacity or leaders of social organisations. There is no age limit. There has to be demonstrable benefit to community. This campaign is open for residents of Goa as well for those hailing from border districts of Sindhudurg, Uttara Kannada and Belagavi. An application form would have to be submitted by those who seek to promote their work. Alternatively, a worthy individual could be nominated by someone else as well. Following are the sectors of work to be considered for the recognition:
Education: This would include efforts in building institutions that redefine the way education is imparted, providing financial support to the needy for education, improving standards of mid-day meals, writing/publishing student-centric books, etc.
Health: This would include efforts to improve access to quality healthcare, preventing spread of diseases, increasing awareness about medical care among the masses, provision of blood to the needy, etc.
Swacch Bharat: This would include efforts to raise awareness about a cleaner Goa, facilitating better management of garbage at the local level, initiative to recycle waste, etc.
Employability: This would include efforts to develop employment worthy skills among Goan youth, forging partnerships with industry to train youth in the unit’s vicinity, helping school drop-outs to earn a dignified living, etc.
Social Enterprise: This would include efforts to manage an enterprise that doesn’t purely indulge in charity, but earns a fair profit while still solving a community-related problem.
Most importantly, we would be looking on how the initiatives taken by the change-makers contributes to India’s development and analyse whether the idea is suitable, scalable and sustainable to and in Goa.
Interested candidates are requested to send in their nominations on firstname.lastname@example.org . The shortlisted candidates shall be invited to present their work before the jury. The top-3 entries would have a session dedicated to them at Thought Leadership Conclave 2019.
