"Transforming schools into healthier environments: CII WASH and Nutrition school health education project aims to impact a total of over 2500 students providing essential infrastructure for water supply, renovating handwashing stations, improving sanitation conditions, and promoting good hygiene practices through awareness among students. With targeted interventions across six identified government schools of Varanasi district, including renovation of facilities, installation of sanitary pad wending machines, and awareness sessions around Child health and Nutrition, Oral hygiene, Safe drinking water, Handwashing, Menstrual hygiene, and Tuberculosis.

Public Health

CII works in the space of Public Health with the vision of catalyzing enhanced private sector response to Public Health challenges in the country. Towards this end we leverage private sector engagement in complementing the existing health system with the aim to advocate & promote PPP in healthcare delivery. CII has worked to place the issue of public health on every corporate boardroom agenda. With the steady spike in Non Communicable Diseases, we have expanded our focus to include strategic novel initiatives with the objective of combating this growing pandemic. At the same time, we continue with our commitment to fight and prevent communicable diseases, promote healthy workplace conditions, raise nutrition levels among women and children etc. Expanding Thrust to mitigate NCDs and promote Preventive Health National NCD Summit – This is an ongoing initiative in partnership with Eli Lilly which began in 2013 with the objective to bring about policy level changes through rigorous multi-stakeholder regional consultations and help strengthen and shape care and management policies for NCDs and Diabetes more specifically. In 2013 the focus was on understanding enablers and barriers in the implementation of the NPCDCS programme. More recently we have worked with Public Sector Enterprises (PSEs) to help shape and strengthen their Diabetes Management policies. We engaged with all major Maharatnas, Navratnas and Miniratnas which have their own Heath Units and reach out to a population as large as over 1.5 million employees. Drive Against Diabetes (DAD) – In a first of its kind unique Public private Partnership with the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM), a massive screening, testing and awareness campaign was organized across Mumbai in conjuction with the World Diabetes Day. This Drive was a record in itself and the model is both replicable and scalable across different states. Continuing our commitment towards prevention of communicable Diseases: HIV/AIDS Prevention: To prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS and to care for those affected by it, CII has framed an HIV/AIDS code for industry which includes the development of a workplace policy and protocols for care, support and treatment services. This includes training of doctors and paramedics in HIV medicine, setting up of counseling help lines, developing a biometric Health Smart Card, partnerships with international agencies and formation of a Global Business Coalitions for sharing of preventive best practices on HIV/AIDS, TB and Malaria CII is actively involved in advancing knowledge, translating knowledge into policy and transforming policy into actions – We have developed National NCDs White Papers, A study on Private Sector Engagement in Primary Healthcare through public private partnerships alongside creating sustainable public health platforms/ fora.
