In continuation of the success of the First edition of FARM2FORK 2014 Confederation of Indian Industry, Odisha State Office along with MSME Department & Department of Agriculture, Government of Odisha organized 2nd FARM2FORK 2015 - “Seminar cum Exposition on Food Processing & Agribusiness Potential of Odisha” on 15 May 2015 at Bhubaneswar.
Invited dignitaries were like Shri Naveen Patnaik, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Odisha as “CHIEF GUEST” and also invited other esteemed dignitaries like Shri Devi Prasad Mishra, Hon’ble Minister of Industries, School & Mass Education, Shri Ranglal Jamuda, IAS, Secretary, Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MFPI), Government of India, New Delhi, Shri G C Pati, IAS, Chief Secretary, Government of Odisha, Shri Rajesh Verma, IAS, Principal Secretary, Department of Agriculture, Government of Odisha, Shri Panchanan Dash, ISS, Secretary, MSME Department, Government of Odisha inaugurated 2nd FARM2FORK 2015. Apart from the members of the Confederation, the session was also attended by relevant Corporations, Consultants, PSUs, State Government Representatives and other relevant stakeholders.
2nd FARM2FORK 2015 was provided a unique platform to exhibit the strengths and potential of important crops, forest produces, livestock, aquaculture, horticulture, spices & food processing industry of Odisha. 2nd FARM2FORK 2015 provided a platform to bring together stakeholders and decision makers from organizations – policy makers, researchers, producers and industry leaders to discuss economic, environmental, policy and societal issues and create new knowledge and an essential full-chain, global perspective for Agri Business & Food Processing in Odisha to realize its inherent potential.
Prime agenda of this seminar was to showcase & explore Investment opportunities in Food & Agri Business sectors across Odisha. First Technical Session was focused on National agro & food processing companies who would like to come to Odisha for investment and also to highlights the opportunities in Odisha and policies for MSMEs in Agro/Food processing sector. Session also dedicated to concentrate on increased long term investment in food processing & agricultural sectors from other industry sectors in Odisha (on farm as well as off farm) by private sector, public sector and private & public partnership (PPP), particularly for post harvest management, marketing, agro processing and value addition, etc.
Second Technical Session focused on the Food & Agri Business support infrastructures which was the biggest contributor in expanding the food processing & agri business sector, in terms of both investment and exports. It included long and fragmented supply chain, cold storage and warehousing facilities, road, rail and port infrastructure. Also, modern logistics infrastructure such as logistics parks, integrated cold chain solutions, customized transportation, technology adoption ( barcoding, RFIDs).
