The conference comprised of the following sessions:
1. Systems Approach for Banana Production
2. Value Added products from Banana
3. Branding and Marketing of Banana
Various tools and technologies from the production chain of banana right up to the post harvest and value addition were displayed in the Exhibition.
The key speakers during the Inaugural session of the festival were Mr S Damodaran, Hon’ble Minister for Agriculture, Government of Tamil Nadu, Mr Satyabrata Sahoo IAS, Commissioner – Horticulture, Government of Tamil Nadu, Dr K Ramasamy, Vice Chancellor, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Mr B Thiagarajan, Convenor, Agriculture and Food Processing Panel, CII Tamil Nadu & Executive Director, Blue Star Ltd, Mr Ravichandran Purushothaman, Chairman, Tamil Nadu Banana Festival 2013 & President – India, Danfoss industries Ltd. About 44 exhibitors across the supply chain of banana participated at the exhibition. The exhibition as well as the conference was visited by around 8000 farmers besides others stakeholders from across the state and adjoining states.
CII Tamil Nadu organised the 2nd Edition of CII Tamil Nadu Banana Festival 2013 during 14 – 15 December 2013 at Coimbatore. The event comprised of an exhibition cum conference focusing on the entire value chain of banana.
The main objective of organizing this festival is to promote the development of integrated cold chain facilities in the state, promote the cultivation of different varieties of bananas and also to attain the goal of “Ensuring Global Leadership for Tamil Nadu in banana cultivation and supply chain”.
