In its continuous effort of supporting MSME, CII Salem organised a “Conference on Financing & Marketing Opportunities for MSMEs” on 19 February, 2014, at Salem. The main objective of the conference was to provide a common platform for MSME, Financial Institutions and Banks to facilitate learning and interaction amongst them.
CII accords a high priority to the development of MSMEs, the dynamic segment of Indian Economy. It is seen that the small-scale industries sector play a vital role in the growth of the country. SSI Sector in India creates largest employment opportunities for the Indian populace, next only to Agriculture.
A recent concept note prepared by UNDP observes that MSMEs in Indian economy contribute 40% in terms of volume, 80% in terms of employment, 60% in terms of export, and 92% in terms of number of enterprises. If we compare our MSME industry with big industries, some interesting facts emerge. As per the third census document of MSME, employment-investment ratio is about seven times for MSMEs as compared to big ones.
Senior Officials from Nationalised Banks, Private Banks and Government/Private Agencies - made presentations to the MSME Customers. Apart from the leading banks, the financial institutions such as MSME Development Institute, NSIC, SIDCO etc., Private agencies like Microsoft, PPP Research Foundation, ECHOVME have participated and made presentations at this seminar. This seminar was mainly for MSME Customers from the corporate sector and MSME industry association members. The seminar brought together around 60 + delegates comprising of CEOs, Managing Partners, Directors and decision makers from the MSME segment.
