CII Masterclass on Negotiations Skills

All of us face situations wherein negotiations are called for, be it personal relationships, business deals, or sometimes purely to avoid getting into a full-fledged conflict. In fact, negotiations are the backbone of any type of communication in just about every relationship. Yet, it is difficult to negotiate well consistently through all situations. The fact is, nobody is a born negotiator. And, for those whose careers depend on their ability to negotiate, or those who are vying for leadership positions, the good news is that negotiation can be studied as a science, and negotiation skills can be honed as a talent.
Negotiation has become one of the most important skills and abilities. While negotiation will happen between two parties for reaching an agreement, it is said that the most effective negotiator will be both competing as well as collaborating. An effective negotiator is one who creates value for the other while claiming value for the self. Effective negotiation works on good clear communication, productive use of time, and closing a deal that will work in the long run. The ability to negotiate well is a prerequisite to succeeding as a business owner or leader, and no matter your experience level there are always areas to improve.
