CII has envisaged a National Movement for Mainstreaming CSR for Sustained Inclusiveness as part of its Social Development Agenda. The CII National Committee on Corporate Social Responsibility & Community Development was constituted in 2001 to make CSR an actionable business agenda. The Committee develops CSR guidelines and promotes the sharing of CSR experiences and best practices. CII also organizes an annual CSR Summit to enable the stakeholders to review and strengthen the CSR Movement.
To bridge the gap between Corporates and NGOs, CII in partnership with Bombay Stock Exchange and Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs has created an online platform called Sammaan. It is a first of its kind initiative in the world which enables companies to undertake effective CSR activities by connecting them to non-profit and non-government agencies with legitimate records. Sammaan adopts a rigorous process to list NGOs and projects across India, from which the corporate can choose to fund and monitor their CSR grants. To know more, visit www.bsesammaan.com
In 2011, to strengthen its work in social development, CII established CII Foundation, a trust to spearhead and lead industry involvement in CSR. CII Foundation has been engaging with member companies towards implementing CSR projects by channelizing efforts towards designing, developing and managing customized and high impact development projects.
