Visakhapatnam offers conducive environment for growth of MSMEs, say's Mr V Vinay Chand, IAS, Collector & District Magistrate, Visakhapatnam District

21 December 2019, Visakhapatnam: Confederation of Indian Industry organized MSME Conclave with a theme focusing on "Transforming MSMEs in the New Global Era: Advantage Andhra Pradesh" here today.

Speaking at the Inaugural Session of the Conclave Mr. V Vinay Chand, IAS, Collector & District Magistrate, Visakhapatnam District said that Government of Andhra Pradesh is focusing on key sectors such as Tourism, Hospitality and Construction. He also mentioned that Fishing is one of the sector which needs to explore its potential by establishing food & marine processing units in Visakhapatnam. He also emphasized that Government is keen to promote medical and its ancillary units in Visakhapatnam. In this regard, he illustrated Bio-medical waste processing centers which comes under MSMEs in health care sector.

Mr. Pratap Bhimireddy, Special Representative for Investment Promotion & Infrastructure Development, Government of Andhra Pradesh in his address felt that entrepreneurial skills are required particularly for the youth to succeed in business . He suggested that MSMEs should not focus mainly on schemes & incentives and whatever incentives & schemes coming from Government would be the bonus only. He also said that today, MSMEs across the globe are focusing on adopting appropriate and innovative technologies to build their path of competitiveness. unless the Indian MSME sector equips itself with the latest technology, it will not be in a position to integrate itself in the Global Value Chain and keep up with the global competition, he added in his address.

Mr. VKK Nadimpalli, IES Dy. Development Commissioner, Andhra Pradesh SEZ in his address focused on Special Economic Zones,land availability, affordability, Gems & Jewelry clusters in SEZs. He also said that Central Government together with State Government through District Industries Center implemented many financial support schemes like Gramodaya, PMRY & PMEGP etc for promoting Small Scale Industries and self employment enterprises. He also mentioned that MSME sector is only next to Agriculture in terms of employment and contribution to the National GDP.

Dr Ramesh Datla, Past Chairman, CII Southern Region & Executive Chairman, Elico Group in his perspective emphasized on overall capacity building needed for MSMEs to upgrade to the next level. He felt that MSME's need to modernize to face global the competition. .

Mr. RVS Rudraraju, Imm. Past Chairman, CII Andhra Pradesh & Director, RHI Clasil Pvt. Ltd in his welcome address said that Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Sector has emerged as a highly vibrant and dynamic sector of the Indian economy over the last five decades. MSMEs contribute to approximately 8% of the Country’s GDP, 45% of the manufacturing output and 40% of exports.

Mr. Y V Krishna Mohan, Convenor, CII Andhra Pradesh MSME Panel and Chief Executive Officer, Surya Engineering Works while setting context, he said that CII conducts MSME Conclaves in almost all the states with focus on State specific issues pertaining to MSMEs focusing on ease of doing business , policy advocacy to Government and to deliberate on challenges faced by MSMEs.

Mr. J Srinivasa Raju, Vice Chairman, CII Visakhapatnam Zone & Managing Director Geomarine Dynamics Pvt. Ltd delivered concluding remarks at the Conference. The conclave deliberated on productivity, exports & finance for MSMEs.
