International Women’s Day
CII celebrated International Women’s Day-under the theme Press for Progress

Confederation of Indian Industries (CII-Jammu) in collaboration International Centre for Cross Cultural Research and Human Resource Management (ICccR & HRM), University of Jammu, today organised a panel discussion on the theme “Press for Progress”. The objective of the panel discussion was to recall and press forward the narrative of gender parity by motivating and uniting students, academicians, and whole communities to think, act and be gender inclusive. The panel discussion pitched the essence of celebrating womanhood, their social, political, cultural, economic achievements and their significant contributions to society. The discussion aimed to reflect on progress made, to call for change and to celebrate acts of courage and determination by ordinary women who have played an extraordinary role in the history of their regions and communities.

The panellists for the occasion were Mrs. Mansi Gupta, Centre Director, JD Institute of Fashion Technology, Mrs. Renuka Rana Modi, Owner of Renuka Bakers, and Mrs. Parul Jasrotia, a renowned Himalayan trekker.
Mrs. Mansi Gupta, Centre Director, JD Institute of Fashion Technology speaking on the occasion highlighted that this year, International Women’s Day comes on the heels of unprecedented global movement for women’s rights, equality and justice which has taken the form of global marches and campaigns, including #MeToo and #TimesUp in the United States of America and their counterparts in other countries, on issues ranging from sexual harassment and femicide to equal pay, women’s workplace representation and the professional choices.
Mrs. Renuka Rana Modi, Owner Renuka Bakers a first generation entrepreneur narrated the women specific challenges faced by her in her entrepreneurial journey. Echoing the importance of choices that a women need to make on personal and professional fronts were taken up by the speaker. She highlighted the need to transform the entrepreneurial momentum into action, to empower women in all settings, and to celebrate the women who are working relentlessly to claim women’s rights and realize their full potential.
Further, Mrs. Parul Jasrotia, a renowned Himalayan trekker narrated the gender specific challenges faced by women in terms of opting for careers and professions. She expressed that women across globe face many social battles, and one day cannot be seen as a true celebration really, but change often just starts with one.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Deepak Raj Gupta recalled the past achievements made by the Founder Director, ICccR & HRM, Professor Neelu Rohmetra whose leadership and visionary approach towards institution building has paved way for creating institutions that are inclusive of diversity and culture. While speaking on the theme “Press for Progress”, Prof. Deepak Raj Gupta, highlighted the essence of women in all spheres of life and the need for creating environment that reflect upon equality, freedom and participation.

The students of MBA (International Business) also showcased various documentaries on leading female entrepreneurs of Jammu and Kashmir.

The panel discussion was attended by the students of MBA (International Business), research scholars and faculty members.
