Brief Description:
With the objective of building greater awareness and consensus on various issues critical for the country’s growth, CII has launched a new monthly publication called Policy Watch. It will be widely circulated to all stakeholders, particularly to membership and government to communicate Industry’s views and recommendations across different sectors.
The recent cases of industrial violence in the country has brought into sharp focus the issue of labour and employer - employee relations.
There has been a widespread feeling amongst business and industry, especially manufacturing industry that while globalisation and liberalisation of the economy have brought about a sea change in the business and industrial scenario, India's labour legislations have not kept pace with the changing market scenario.
Against this backdrop, CII has been strongly advocating the need for labour reforms that enable attraction of additional investments, both domestic & international and also generate employment. At the same time it must ensure internal harmony and equity resulting in better shop floor climate and reduced social tensions.
This edition of the CII Policy Watch takes an in-depth look at Industrial Relations as a crucial instrument for growth.
