GES 2019, a Game-changer for India to Achieve its $5 Trillion Economy by 2025

The Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India in partnership with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Services Export Promotion Council (SEPC) is organising its 5th Edition of the Global Exhibition on Services (GES) 2019 on 26-28 November 2019  in Bengaluru.  Government of Karnataka is the Host State for GES 2019.

Mr Piyush Goyal, Hon’ble Minister of Commerce & Industry and Railways, Government of India and Mr B S Yediyurappa, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Karnataka would be the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour respectively at the Inaugural Session scheduled on 26 November 2019 at the Palace Grounds, Bengaluru.

GES initiative is considered as a global platform for increasing trade in services, enhancing strategic cooperation and strengthening multilateral relationships between stakeholders from India and overseas.  This initiative would also enhance the competitiveness of India’s service sectors through the implementation of focused and monitored Action Plans, thereby promoting GDP growth, creating more jobs and enhancing exports to global markets and thereby contribute substantially towards the Vision of the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India for the country to achieve its $5 trillion economy by 2025.

GES 2019, spread across 19,000 sq.mts  will have a participation of over 2000 delegates including 350 overseas delegates from 65 countries like UAE, China, Vietnam, Zimbabwe and many more and also business leaders from Indian services industry. GES will also have representation from the Public and Private Sector besides participation from select States and Central Government Ministries, showcasing initiatives in services, success stories, expansion plans, Public Digital Platforms, Innovation by CoEs.

GES 2019 would showcase 12 Champion Services Sectors like Accounting & Finance, Education, Environmental Services, Financial, Banking & Insurance, Healthcare & Wellness, IT & ITes, Infrastructure, Construction & Engineering Services, Legal Services, Media & Entertainment Services, Telecommunication, Tourism & Hospitality and Transport & Logistics with partnership structured B2B/B2G/G2G meetings.

GES 2019 also includes 22 knowledge sessions covering on International Trade in Services, Quality Education, Skill Ecosystem, Digital trade & Economy, Transport & Logistics, E-Commerce and Financial & Banking among others.

GES 2019 will feature 250+ Exhibitors representing sectors like Transport and Logistics, Education, Financial, Banking & Insurance, Media & Entertainment services, IT & ITes, Exhibition and Event Services, Energy Services, Retail, E-commerce, Railways, Skills, Startups/MSME. GES 2019 would have a large Indian Startups participation by first-time entrepreneurs especially for Women and underprivileged youth from Champion Sectors from about 30+ Companies.

The services sector account for 54% of India’s Gross Value Added (GVA) and continues to grow moderately at 7.5% year-on-year. Services sector also continues to attract the largest amount of FDI, with over 60% of the total FDI equity inflows into India, is a key driver of global trade and a very valuable source of employment. In essence, the services sector is the prime driver of the economy in an inclusive and equitable manner. In a challenging global environment, services trade is increasingly viewed as an instrument to create jobs, drive national growth and foster exchange of ideas, knowledge and technology.
