CII for setting up Manufacturing Zones in IT & Hardware
Puducherry, 30 June 2012. A Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) delegation today called on Dr Manmohan Singh, Hon’ble Prime Minister of India in Puducherry. The CII delegation included Mr. K S Shetty, Chairman, CII Puducherry; Mr. K Amarnath, Vice Chairman, CII Puducherry; Mr. C S Dwivedi and Mr. Meenakshi Kumar, Past Chairmen of Puducherry and Mr. Sujith Haridas, Regional Director, CII, Southern Region. The CII team handed over to the Prime Minister, the Puducherry Vision 2025 Document, prepared by CII.
The CII team briefed the Hon’ble Prime Minister on various initiatives CII has been taking for the development of Puducherry including the Vision 2025 initiative in partnership with State Government.
Mr K S Shetty, Chairman, CII Puducherry mentioned to the Hon’ble Prime Minister that the Puducherry Vision 2025 Document envisages the State to become a Model State by 2025, with a potential to emerge as an international destination for higher education; a best-in-class wellness, spiritual, and eco-tourism destination; a hub for high-end manufacturing and services industries, duly preserving its environment and heritage.
A Memorandum was also submitted to the Hon’ble Prime Minister seeking Government of India’s support in setting up of Manufacturing Zones in IT & Hardware; establishing an Indian Institute of Management in Puducherry; enhancing air, rail and road connectivity to Puducherry besides allocation of additional power from the National Grid to meet the power shortage in the State
Mr. V Narayansamy, Hon’ble Minister of State for Prime Minister’s Office was also present on the occasion.
