The Asia Foundation has been donating books through its Books for Asia (BFA) program to Universities, Schools, Libraries, Public Institutions, and Non-Profit organizations throughout Asia for more than 50 years. For the year 2011 under the first phase, CII Puducherry along with Directorate of School Education had distributed around 700 children’s books to high schools for their library. Under the second phase CII – TAF alongwith Directorate of Higher & Technical Education, Puducherry has distributed books to Govt. Colleges in Puducherry on 20 February 2012 at the Directorate of Higher & Technical Education (PIPMATE Complex), Lawspet, Puducherry. The books were distributed by Mr Meenakshi Kumar, Chairman, CII Puducherry and Mr G Panneerselvam, Director, Higher & Technical Education, Government of Puducherry. In this context, Government has identified around 10 colleges with library facility to which the books have been distributed.
