28th Quality Circle Competition Preliminary 2015- 16

JAAGRATI team from Sandhar Automotives, Gurgaon lifts the trophy of the 28th Quality Circle Competition at Chandigar 

JAAGRATI team from Sandhar Automotives, Gurgaon was declared the winner in the 28th Quality Circle Competition Preliminary 2015- 16 organized by Confederation of Indian Industry in Chandigarh. The ‘First Runner-up Trophy’ was won by “ULLAS” team from Maruti Suzuki India Limited, Gurgaon and 2nd runner up trophy was won by the DARPAN team from Mahavir Spinning Mills, Baddi (A unit of Vardhman Textile Ltd). Creators Team from Dr Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd, Baddi won the best debutant award in the competition. These teams will now participate in the Regional level Competition.

Champs Team from Tata Motors Ltd, Lucknow, Challengers team from Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd (SWARAJ Division - Mohali) and Think team from Hero Cycles Ltd Ludhiana received the consolation prizes.   

"The approach, the initiative and hard work of the workmen leads to concrete results" said Mr Amarbir Singh, Chairman CII Chandigarh Council, while speaking at the Competition. He also stressed the need of Total Quality Management in an organisation as it covers the overall quality of the product and not only of the end product. He welcomes all the participants for the commendable preparation and presentation.

Mr S K Jain, Director- Industries, UT Chandigarh, was the Chief Guest and gave away the trophies to the winning teams at the Valedictory Session. Mr Jain mentioned there is no shortcut for the success & same implies in quality. He mentioned that quality comes with the cost and shop floor workers are the one who made the quality product through their innovation and expertise. He also congratulated all the participating teams.

In all, 22 Quality Circles made presentations on the specific projects handled by them at their work place. The assessment of the presentation was made on a weighted scale covering different aspects of the Quality Circle activity. The evaluation was based on factors like problem selection, analysis, solution, presentation, etc.

Quality Control Circles from companies like Hero Cycles, JCB India Ltd, Dr Reddy Laboratories Ltd, National Engineering Industries Ltd, Vardhman Textiles, , Mahindra & Mahindra, Tata Motors, Bharat Electronics Ltd, Maruti Suzuki Ltd, Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Ltd, Secure Meters Ltd, Subros Ltd participated in this Competition.

The Competition was attended by over 160 participants comprising of Workmen; Quality and HR heads from Industry, states the release.
