TCS and SAMSUNG R&D Institute are Winner of CII IP Award

CII Industrial Intellectual Property Awards were conferred on eight outstanding companies in the categories of patents and trademarks in the 3rd edition of 'International IPR Conference on Protection of Intellectual Property and Enforcement in the face of Industry 4.0' jointly organized by CII, Indian Patent Office and Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion. 

Tata Consultancy Services was the winner in the category of Top Patent Driven Industry (Large enterprise).  The runner up in the category of Top Patent Driven Industry of the year (Large Enterprise) was bagged by Samsung R & D Institute.

Apex Laboratories Private Limited were accorded as winners in the category of Top Patent Driven Industry of the year (Small & Medium Enterprise) as well as Top Trademark Driven Industry of the year (Small & Medium Enterprise). The runner up in the category of Top Patent Driven Industry of the year (Small & Medium Enterprise) was Optimus Drug Pvt Ltd

Tata Chemicals Ltd was conferred as winner in the category of Top Trademark Driven Industry of the year (Large Enterprise). First runner up in the category of Top Trademark Driven Industry of the year (Large Enterprise) is Tata Steel Ltd. The runner-up in the category of Top Trademark Driven Industry of the year (Small & Medium Enterprise) is Resil Chemicals Pvt  Ltd.

In the era of Industry 4.0 or the Fourth Industrial Revolution, protection and interpretation of IPR requires new skill sets and knowledge. Big data and technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things, Machine learning, 3D printing and so on are posing new questions about ownership, novelty, inventiveness and originality of IP generated. Issues related to licensing and enforcement are also emerging.

The Conference provides a vital platform to share the best national and international practices in IPR policies and enforcement, evaluate each country’s action plans on IPR enforcement, develop new tools and create stronger partnerships to advance the common purpose of combatting IP crimes. It covers issues such as artificial intelligence and IPR for software and devices, manufacturing and human resources, IP licensing and so on.
