Udyam Portal completes 5 million registrations

“Timely availability, accessibility and affordability of credit and technological know-how are important pre-requisites for any MSME and especially the micro enterprises to thrive, grow and expand” stated Shri B B Swain, Secretary, Ministry of MSME, Government of India while addressing the Inaugural Session at the MSME Tech-Fin Mobility Summit on the theme of Strengthening India’s vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat organised by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in Partnership with Ministry of MSME, held today. He added that the Hon’ble Minister’s initiative on introducing the new registration process of Udyam which is transparent and online, are steps towards bringing more units under the organized framework has been quite impactful.

The Secretary while informing about the successful completion of 5 million MSMEs registering on Udyam Portal, urged industry to promote Udyam Registration amongst MSMEs which has highly authentic data that may also be leveraged towards designing robust policy intervention. While congratulating CII’s initiative on Technology and Finance for MSMEs and its overall relevance. Welcoming CII’s initiative of the 2-month online loan campaign being organized as part of the 2nd Edition of Money Mobility, Mr Swain mentioned about the recent study which the Ministry undertook for understanding the challenges of loans to MSMEs by financial institutions.       

Mr Shreekant Somany, Chairman, CII National MSME Council while congratulating Ministry of MSME for successful implementation of its Lean Manufacturing Cluster Scheme, proposed formulation of a scheme which will aim at enhancing efficiency and productivity through technology intervention and solution deployment for the MSMEs. This was proposed in the wake of CII’s TechSaksham initiative which CII is undertaking in collaboration with partners like Intel, Vodafone Idea, Dell and Zoho through creation and deployment of MSME TechBundle following the cluster approach.     

Mr Ashok Saigal, Co-Chairman, CII National MSME Council, while concluding, emphasized on the need for digital adoption by the micro entrepreneurs as an initial step for riding the digital revolution which can further gain momentum and be scaled with the support of Ministry of MSME.
