India continues its battle against COVID19, with the second wave being the worst outbreak of COVID-19 since the advent of the pandemic. Although a nationwide lockdown has been avoided thus far, multiple states have announced restrictions as the outbreak is no longer isolated in a few states, or urban areas. The second wave has infiltrated the nation, including rural areas that were to an extent protected during the first wave. The Indian economy will likely see a sequential contraction in the first quarter of FY 2021-22 (April- June). The healthcare systems and personnel are stretched, and the only way to enable a quick return to normalcy is to vaccinate people and vaccinate people as soon as possible. As the inoculation process has now been decentralized to flatten the curve, and opened up to 18+ population, our primary goal is focused towards facilitating and enabling adequate supply of vaccines for the entire adult population.
Government and Industry have been working together to enhance the production capacity of vaccines along with the supply of many important critical essential care drugs and devices, there is already talk of a third wave that is likely to impact children along with various grim possibilities in so far as the trajectory and mutation of this virus is concerned.
