The CII Award for Food Safety, a one of its kind award on Food Safety Maturity Assessment in India, was launched by CII in 2010 to promote internationally benchmarked practices on Food Safety in Small, Medium and Large Food Businesses and build capacity in the food value chain. The Award has gained significant relevance in the current scenario, given the enactment of the new Food Safety and Standards Rules and Regulations 2011 in the country.
Since the launch in 2010, the % growth in the award application has been more than 7 folds. Over the last 3 years, besides covering sectors like Dairy, Bakery, Beverages, Edible Oils, Ready to Eat Snacks, Quick Service Restaurants, Fresh Fruits and Vegetables Primary Production, the Award program has expanded to include E-Commerce, Laboratories and Joint Partnership Applications of Customers and Suppliers demonstrating Food Safety Excellence from Micro, Small, and Medium Business (SMB).
