CII Associations’ Council (ASCON) is an important forum of CII which brings together National level Associations from across sectors on a common platform. The Council,
through this national network of associations, aims to discuss and represent issues that affect the growth and development of the industry and economy,
thereby creating an enabling environment for the development of Indian industry in today’s dynamic and extremely competitive global scenario.
The origin of ASCON goes back to 1974 when the affiliated associations of CII were first brought together on a single platform to elicit and synthesize regional and sectoral perspectives.
From 1992 onwards, the Council was strengthened to provide key feedback from specific industry areas, including manufacturing and services.
It emerged as a reliable and credible source of data and industry views. Over the years, the Council has established itself as a key repository of industry data and reference point
which is provided to its members through the Industry survey reports released every quarter. These reports provide an informative snapshot of the past and prospective potential of the economy.
ASCON currently comprises 100+ national, sector specific industry associations, representing over 75,000 Indian companies across manufacturing, service and agricultural sectors. This wide network of national associations represents major
sectors of the Indian Industry which broadens the reach & impact of these associations as well as CII’s own advocacy efforts.
The Council is chaired by the President Designate of CII. This year, ASCON is chaired by Mr R Mukundan, Managing Director & CEO, Tata Chemicals Limited.
ASCON plays a major role in monitoring the industry performance and has been working extensively on highlighting key issues concerning the economy and
the industry which need to be taken up with the Government and policy makers at various levels.
