Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in collaboration with Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) today launched ‘Phenk Mat Jammu’ awareness campaign in G.D Goenka Public School, Jammu.

CII Phenk Mat Jammu is an initiative by CII and Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) with a vision to make Jammu litter free and clean. The campaign envisages bringing about a permanent behavioural change among the youth of Jammu by encouraging them to change their habits and keep the city clean.

Mr Rajesh Rathore, Principal G D Goenka Public School, welcomed Mr Ramesh Kumar and appreciated CII for its initiative “ Phenk Mat Jammu” for promoting Litter free and clean Jammu and assured full support in future as well.

Mr. Ramesh Kumar (IAS), Municipal Commissioner, JMC graced the occasion as a Chief Guest for ‘Phenk Mat Jammu’ and addressed the students of G.D Goenka and primarily focused on the importance of maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in the City.

While addressing he mentioned that “Awareness and behavioural changes needs to be brought in at an early age. Children can be good change agents who have the ability to influence others. Hence, with their help we shall be able to spread awareness in the society about implementing clean habits.” He also focused on JMC Project 2020 and discussed in best practices for the youth of Jammu to create a Litter-free environment.

Pushing the agenda ahead, JMC Commissioner further articulated the on taken initiatives for Jammu city by distributing dustbins for shops and residents in two different colours (green bin for biodegradable wet waste and blue bin for non-biodegradable dry waste). This initiative has been taken so that the source segregation shall start at the earliest. He added that water bodies of Jammu are in great sufferance due to the extensive use of plastic bags which are hazardous to our environment. Mentioned about India’s biggest problem of open defecation to cleaning up Garbage, JMC Opens up on perfect defecation 2018 projects of building 700 community toilets for the society.

Confederation of Indian Industry, students of G D Goenka Public school, teachers and factuality, pledged to beautify Jammu.
