Korea–Meghalaya Joint CSR Forum
The Embassy of the Republic of Korea, KOTRA (India–Korea Business Cooperation Desk, New Delhi), and CII co-hosted the 2026 Korea–India Joint CSR–Economic Cooperation Forum in Shillong on 28 April 2026, marking an important step toward deeper economic collaboration.
Held in the wake of President Jae-myung Lee’s recent India visit and summit with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the forum brought together a high-level Korean delegation led by Commercial Counsellor Sungjoong Cho and “Team Korea” representatives.
The forum aimed to initiate dialogue with the Government of Meghalaya on investment opportunities and shared development goals. Cho highlighted Meghalaya’s strategic importance within India’s Act East Policy and Korea’s Indo-Pacific Strategy, calling the forum a first step toward long-term partnership and shared prosperity.
CII’s Ankit Kumar welcomed the initiative, while Cyril V. Darlong Diengdoh (IAS) outlined Meghalaya’s investment potential and business-friendly environment. Jae-wook Lee of KOTRA emphasized Korea’s strengths and scope for sectoral cooperation.
The event also featured a CSR donation ceremony, with Team Korea organizations—including KOTRA, Invest India Korea Plus, KITA, K-Sure, KOIPA, KIEP, KOSME, and KOSMA—supporting community welfare initiatives.
