MSMEs have generally been considered as the backbone of industrial development; Gujarat Government has accorded high priority to this sector. Manufacturing sector in Gujarat contributes 27.6% of GSDP.
Supply chain being critical to sustainable improvement in manufacturing competitiveness and achieving the target of 32% contribution by manufacturing sector in GSDP by year 2017, the CII chapter of Gujarat commissioned a study to assess the status of supply chain in Gujarat in the MSME sector. The main objective of the study was to assess – the bottlenecks which MSMEs in Gujarat are experiencing in exploiting their full potential & how can larger enterprises help them in removing these bottlenecks; the strength of MSMEs which larger enterprises can leverage to add value to their supply chain and the areas of improvements for MSMEs to be globally competitive.
The CII-Deloitte MSME Survey details the outcome of the analysis based on responses received from various participants through a structured questionnaire on issues such as Supply chain strategies and issues, Value chain issues, Infrastructure & logistic environment and Technology support. The findings would enable MSMEs to adopt the best practices on supply chain and accordingly drive their competitiveness. The study was released at the fourth edition of the two day summit on ‘MSME Linkages 2013’ organized by CII on 30 August - 1 September, 2013 at Ahmedabad.
