Mr. J Satyanarayana, Secretary, Department of Electronics & Information Technology, unveiled the CII-IMRB joint Research Paper ‘Adoption of Cloud in MSMEs’ at the 4th CII Cloud Summit 2013 held on 29th October 2013 held at New Delhi. The 4th Cloud Summit 2013 deliberated on strategies, challenges and opportunities for the adoption of cloud by Government, Industry and MSMEs; new business models; security of the Government and non-Government data; and roles of service and technology providers. The summit discussed the possible role of private participation in establishing and managing the state data centers and the need for developing an ecosystem that will have a positive impact on various stakeholders.
The CII–IMRB research report was conducted with 8000 MSMEs across 22 cities. It brings out that effective hardware utilization on demand stability and device independency are key critical triggers for adoption of cloud computing in small businesses. It also highlights that MSMEs look at cloud as an innovative concept and have concerns around data security, especially in businesses like IT/ ITES and BFSI. Therefore, a further enabling environment and awareness needs to be built in.
