To address sector specific capability building and as an additional aid to the CII-Food Safety Maturity Model, CII Institute of Quality, under the guidance of the CII Expert Group on Food Safety and Quality, has developed “CII - Sector Specific GMP Guidelines for Food Processing” comprising (Good Manufacturing Practices) GMP checklists in the form of self test questionnaires for four sectors namely, Fruits & Vegetables, Dairy, Meat and Beverages. A general GMP checklist, common to all sectors, is also included to assess comprehensive compliance to the Food Safety requirements of these sectors.
The purpose of the CII -Sector specific GMP Guidelines is to equip the industry with a tool to carry out a self test of the level of compliance of Food Safety & Quality requirements of Food establishments for helping food businesses identify the gaps and plan for attaining a higher standard of food hygiene and safety through adoption of good practices. Further, this would enable assessment against sector-wise best practices and would serve as a tool for self improvement of the establishment in its journey to world class levels of Food Safety and Quality in phases.
CII-IQ would gladly welcome suggestions for improvements to this version of CII-Sector Specific GMP Guidelines for Food Processing. For more details please contact anju.bist@cii.in.
