The Global Innovation Index (GII) provides detailed metrics about the innovation performance of 131 economies around the world. CII has been the founding knowledge partner of Global Innovation Index (GII) since 2007. This year's GII theme is “Who Will Finance Innovation?” highlights the state of innovation financing and allied challenges. It also mentions how the Covid-19 pandemic is affecting access of entrepreneurs to different forms of innovation finance.
The 2020 edition of the Global Innovation Index (GII) shows India jumped four places to rank at 48th position since 2019. India is now among the top 50 innovative countries. Innovation has become the self-reliance mantra for India since the clarion call for Aatmanirbhar Bharat by Hon’ble Prime Minister who had stated, “Five things are very important to build a self-reliant India and to bring India back on the path of rapid development - Intent, Inclusion, Investment, Infrastructure and Innovation.
